9-day Self Drive Tour through the Baltics

Trip programme:

Day 1: Vilnius
Arrival in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Pick-up the rental car at the airport. Drive to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 2: Vilnius - Trakai - Vilnius (approx. 50km)
The capital of Lithuania surprises with its abundance and variety of sights. Visit the baroque Casimir Church, the Gate of Dawn, the St. Peter and Paul Church, the ensemble of Vilnius University, St. John’s Church and many more. In the afternoon, we suggest you to take a trip to Trakai and get to know the imposing Gothic castle. Our tip: taste Karaims’ speciality “Kibinai”. Return to Vilnius. Overnight stay.
Day 3: Vilnius - Siauliai - Rundale - Riga (approx. 350km)
Before you leave Lithuania and continue to Latvia, we recommend you to visit the legendary Hill of Crosses near Šiauliai. It is a sacred place with hundreds of thousands crosses and a symbol of Faith, Hope and freedom. Next stop - Rundale Palace - one of Latvia’s most famous sights. Embark on a journey back in time and be impressed by the extraordinary architectural ensemble and the garden art. With many new experiences, you continue the journey to Riga. Check-in and overnight stay at the hotel in Riga.
Day 4: Riga
Discover the diversity of Riga on your own and explore the Old Town with its famous landmarks. The Town Hall Square with the Blackhead House, the building complex “Three Brothers”, Big and Small Guild, Powder Tower, the Cathedral, the Riga Castle, the beautiful St. Peter’s Church and the multitude of impressive Art Nouveau buildings around Alberta’s street are some of the sights that will fascinate you. Overnight stay.  
Day 5: Riga - Gauja National Park - Cesis (approx. 118km)
Today you will get to know the picturesque Gauja National Park. A walk along the nature trails of Ligatne, a fascinating canoe trip on the Gauja River, an exploration of the medieval castles of Sigulda and Turaida, a visit to the historic small town of Cesis are just a few of many possible adventures in the largest park of Latvia. Check in at the historic hotel of Cesis. Overnight stay.
Day 6: Cesis - Pärnu - Tallinn (approx. 260km)
After many new experiences, you leave Cesis and drive along the beautiful Baltic Sea coast to Pärnu. The 750-year-old Hanseatic town has a romantic old town and many places to visit: Elisabeth Church, the town hall in classicist style, the remains of the town fortifications and wide beach along the Baltic Sea coast. In 2018, Lonely Planet selected Pärnu as one of the world’s Top 10 lesser-known beach cities worth visiting. Continue the tour to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Check-in and overnight stay at a hotel in Tallinn.
Day 7: Tallinn
Tallinn – a cosmopolitan city with a unique blend of historic traditions and a hip, modern culture. Enchanting medieval architecture, narrow streets, defensive towers and church facades, ancient gates and many of Tallinn’s most interesting sights fascinate every traveler. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town and visit the Kadriorg Palace, Tallinn Song Festival Grounds, ruins of Bridgettine Convent and many more. Overnight stay at the hotel in Tallinn.
Day 8: Nature break - Lahemaa National Park (approx. 100 km)
Today brings you a scenic highlight as you travel to the nature paradise on the Baltic Sea – Lahemaa National Park. A landscape with peninsulas reaching far into the sea, restored manor houses Palmse, Sagadi and Vihula, is one of the most beautiful places in Estonia. We recommend you to visit the Jägala waterfall and the legendary “captain’s village” Käsmu with snow-white wooden houses and huge boulders or take a hike in the moor of Viru Raba. Return to Tallinn. Overnight stay.
Day 9: Tallinn. Journey home
The time until departure is at your free disposal. Drive to the airport. Return the car and take a flight home.
