Garden Tour & Travel into the Baltic States

Trip programme:

Day 1: Arrival
Your Baltic round trip begins with a flight to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. You will be warmly welcomed at the airport by your English-speaking tour guide and taken to your hotel in a comfortable coach. After check into your hotel, your tour guide introduces the plan for the upcoming days. Depending on the time of the arrival, first acquaintance with the cultural and historical city of Vilnius during a walk through the beautiful, secret alleys and courtyards. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Vilnius. 
Day 2: Vilnius - Trakai - Vilnius (approx. 60km)
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Today the focus is on the historic Old Town of Vilnius. During the tour you will get to know the most important sights.  Walk in the Bernardinu Garden. It is a special park, which houses a botanical exposition immortalising one of the largest botanical gardens in the whole Eastern Europe, which existed here in the 18th century. In the exposition you will be able to admire a ginkgo tree, yellow dogwood, Canadian Douglas fir, black pine tree and the oldest oaks in Vilnius.
In the afternoon, excursion to Trakai, a visit of the medieval water castle. With many new experiences drive back to your hotel in Vilnius. Dinner in a typical Lithuanian cuisine restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel in Vilnius.
Day 3: Vilnius - Siauliai - Rundale - Riga (approx. 378km)
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Check-out. Today we continue our journey to neighbouring Latvia. On the way, in the north of Lithuania, lies the Hill of Crosses. A mystical place of pilgrimage, filled with thousands of crosses. Continue to Sesavas, to a family-run farm. Visit and chat with the Latvian family and during lunch break taste home-made cheeses, bread and vegetables, pickled according to old traditions. Afterwards, you will drive to Southern Latvia and visit “the Latvian Versailles”.  You will be guided through Rundale Palace, the Baroque summer residence of the former Courland dukes. Today’s visit concludes with an expert walk through the French garden in all its splendour.  Arrive in Riga in the late afternoon. Check-in at a hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Day 4: City tour Riga
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Today your acquaintance with the ancient Hanseatic city of Riga, its history and culture begins. The Town Hall Square, the Cathedral, the Great and Small Guilds, the Swedes’ Gate in the old fortress wall are just some of the highlights you will see. Afterwards, a short detour from the centre to see the impressive Art Nouveau “up close”. On the outskirts of the city, at Riga’s central market, where you can dive into the culinary heart of Latvia: stalls with a huge selection of various fresh regional products. Dinner in a typical restaurant of Latvian cuisine. Overnight stay in a hotel in Riga.
Day 5: Riga - Gauja National Park - Pärnu - Tallinn (approx. 350km)
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Check-out. After breakfast we drive to the beautiful Gauja National Park. Visit to the medieval Turaida Castle and the Gutsman's Cave. Afterwards, cross the Estonian border and continue to Pärnu. Visit the herb farm of the Tamme family, which is engaged in growing herbs, vegetables, culinary ornamental and medicinal plants. Of course, the tasting of the herbal tea and the home-baked herbal pirogue must not be missed. The farm shop sells preserved berries, vegetables, herb and tea blends and other herbal products. Continue the journey to Tallinn. Check-in at a hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant. Overnight stay.
Day 6: Tallinn
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant. In the morning, visit Kadriorg Palace with its manicured gardens. The former Tsar's Palace in a proud style of the Roman Baroque is surrounded by fountains, hedges and a garden with Versailles style flower beds. Back to the city centre.
Let yourself be enchanted by the medieval charm of the former city of Reval during a guided city tour! The magnificent Town Hall Square, the Tallinn oldest pharmacy, the Cathedral, the well-preserved city walls and towers, the guild houses from the Hanseatic era, St. Nicholas and Holy Spirit Church, the Cathedral Hill with the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral are just some of the sights you will admire. The afternoon is at your own discretion. Final dinner in a medieval restaurant. Overnight stay at a hotel in Tallinn.
Day 7: Journey home
Historically connected three small sibling countries are a tiny speck on the globe, but we are convinced that the Baltic States and their hospitable people will find a place in your hearts. Today you say goodbye to your tour guide and the Baltic countries. This is followed by the transfer to the airport and the return flight.
